Joy Hewitt, Regional Director & National Chief Employment Coordinator, auticon Canada
Joy brings her vast educational and professional experience to her role as Chief Employment Coach (CEC) with auticon Canada. Besides Joy’s education in psychology and counselling, she’s also an accomplished facilitator who’s passionate about creating awareness about autism. Furthermore, Joy’s insight was key in the development of a Job Coaching curriculum for Canadian colleges. Joy was the CEC with Meticulon from their start and created Meticulon’s toolkit, assessment process and job coaching system. Joy was also an integral part of the Meticulon Assessment Service (MAS) development, and led that project as the National Director monitoring 4 sites across Canada, during its pilot phase. Joy is inspired by auticon’s vision and excited to be part of a national initiative to increase neurodiversity across Canada.
James Milne, Chief Technology Officer, auticon Canada
James Milne is CTO of auticon Canada. He has 25 years experience in the field of web application development in technical and business roles, giving him a wholistic view of the application development process. He is passionate about bringing business value in general, and in particular the opportunity to prove the business value of hiring individuals on the autism spectrum.
Peter Lafontaine, Business Development, auticon Canada
With more than two decades of experience of bringing technology and business solutions to market, Peter is a dynamic business leader driven by purpose focused on Social Enterprise. Strong people and relationship skills with a focus on increased market penetration by understanding customer’s needs and their business drivers. Previously, Peter has worked with industry leaders like Apple and Microsoft. He was a Founder, CEO of Zymeta Media Systems and is a strong community contributor using technology and business skills to improve people’s lives. He is an active member of Rainforest Alberta, Data for Good, ECL Choppers for Charity. A special area of focus has been Mental Health and Wellness. Snowboarding, Mountain Biking and teaching families how to fish on the Columbia River Wetlands are his outlets.
Cheri Burke-Gaffney, Director of Finance, auticon Canada
Cheri Burke-Gaffney joined Meticulon Consulting in September 2013 and is a professional accountant with over 25 years of finance experience in a variety of sectors. She received her Bachelor of Commerce, Finance & Accounting degree from the University of Calgary and holds a CPA designation. Cheri has volunteer experience with educational societies, community programs and charitable organizations. Cheri will be taking on the role of Director of Finance for auticon Canada Ltd.
Amy Thompson, Employment Coordinator
Amy Thompson is an Employment Coordinator with auticon Canada. She has been involved with the autism community for over 15 years, supporting individuals on the spectrum in residential, recreational, vocational, postsecondary and employment settings. In 2014, Amy joined the Meticulon team as a Job Coach and Social Media Manager. She is also the National Social Inclusion Coordinator with Meticulon Assessment Service (MAS), supporting with tool development, training and coaching. Amy’s academic publications underscore the importance of autism acceptance and inclusion. In addition to her work with the ASD community, Amy is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist, with a masters degree in counselling, specializing in art therapy. Most recently, she has taken on the role of Instructional Support Facilitator with Athabasca University, shaping the next generation of counsellors.
Teresa Van Loon
Teresa Van Loon, Executive Assistant to Garth Johnson CEO, auticon Canada
As a senior Executive Assistant Teresa brings to auticon 20 years of professional Executive Administrative experience. Teresa ensures the smooth operation of day to day functions and brings a high level of experience in the area of maintaining company metrics as well as contributing in the creation and implementation of all National processes across Canada. In her career Teresa has worked in the private and public sectors working for almost 11 years in downtown Calgary in the real estate industry liaising with political figures, municipalities and all levels of Government. Teresa also has children with special needs and has a very strong sense of pride to be working for a corporation that has such a wonderful mission behind it working for those in the vulnerable sector.
